Photo Gallery: Visual Dispatches from the Field

True ecological transformation leaves a visible, living imprint on the landscape. The Photo Gallery documents the tangible journey of land restoration, community mobilization, scientific discovery, and traditional heritage preservation across eastern India.
From sterile red-laterite wastelands transforming into dense green canopies to women’s collectives tending village-scale nurseries, these visual archives capture the real work taking place on the ground.

Gallery Curation Structure

The visual archive is organized into four thematic galleries, each focusing on a core facet of our field initiatives:

1. Harit Sansar Plantation Mission & Afforestation Drives

Visualizing the transformation of degraded wastelands, barren institutional campuses, and mine-adjacent lands into self-sustaining, multi-layered native ecosystems.
  • Before-and-After Canopy Evolution: Multi-season visual timelines tracking barren stone-quarry perimeters evolving into dense, multi-tier Miyawaki canopies within 18 to 24 months.
  • Mass Native Plantation Campaigns: Community mobilization drives under the banner of Hariyali Meri Pehchan, showing thousands of volunteers, youth, and civic leaders planting indigenous saplings (Sal, Karanj, Mahua, Peepal, Neem).
  • Urban & Industrial Micro-Forests: High-density, biodiverse green belts planted along industrial corridors, serving as particulate dust buffers and microclimate coolers.

2. Microbial Farming & SIART Research in Action

Documenting scientific inquiry, bio-fertilizer development, and open-air agronomic field trials bridging laboratory discovery with smallholder farms.
  • Microbial Strain Isolation & Quality Control: Laboratory procedures at SIART capturing bacterial culture isolation, acid-tolerant strain propagation, and bio-formulation screening.
  • Field Demonstration Trials: Comparative side-by-side plots highlighting root development, earthworm repopulation, and topsoil health in microbial-treated versus chemical-depleted soil.
  • Hands-on Farmer Workshops: Interactive village training sessions showing smallholders how to assess soil organic carbon using simple field diagnostics and prepare zero-chemical compost inoculants.

3. Women-Led Rural Enterprises & Community Livelihoods

Celebrating the grassroots leadership of rural women and youth building decentralized green micro-economies.
  • Decentralized Village Nurseries: Women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) grading wild native forest seeds, filling bio-enriched nursery bags, and managing low-cost micro-sprinkler shade net units.
  • Economic Autonomy in Practice: SHG collective meetings, nursery balance sheet reviews, and local sapling loading operations supplying regional afforestation projects.
  • Community Water Stewardship: Village youth and water user committees participating in voluntary desilting drives, restoring traditional check dams and seasonal catchment sumps.

4. Hodopathy: Documenting Ethnomedicine & Sacred Groves

Preserving ancestral botanical wisdom and indigenous forest medicine through respectful, ethical documentation.
  • In-Situ Ethnobotanical Fieldwork: Accompanied forest documentation expeditions alongside indigenous healers (Rarhanik and Kaviraj) in the deep forests of the Chota Nagpur plateau.
  • Living Herbarium & Specimen Pressing: Archival photographs of wild medicinal plants (Kalmegh, Satawar, Harjora, Anantamool) alongside taxonomic identification records.
  • Community-Protected Arogya Vana: Sacred groves (Jaherthan) and village medicinal plots conserved by tribal councils to protect endangered local flora from over-extraction.
