By November, the soil would harden into dry clay, rendering kitchen gardens impossible. With zero winter crops and local groundwater sinking below reachable depths, the hamlet faced an annual winter exodus. Men migrated hundreds of kilometers to work as unorganized brick-kiln and construction labor, while the women managed water-scarce households under mounting local debt.
