What Are Biofertilisers?

Biofertilisers are biological agricultural inputs that contain or support beneficial microorganisms.

When used appropriately, they can support natural soil processes such as nutrient availability, root-zone activity and soil biological health. Their role is to complement responsible nutrient management and sustainable farming practices.

Biofertilisers are not a shortcut or a universal solution. Their performance depends on soil type, crop, climate, organic matter, irrigation, nutrient management and correct application practices.

The SIART Innovation Process

1. Identify the Field Challenge

Soil condition, crop type, local climate, water availability and existing farming practices are considered before recommending or developing solutions.
