Profile & Journey
Rajeev Singh
Environmental Leader | Agripreneur | Sustainability Advocate | IIM Alumnus
Rajeev Singh is an Indian environmental leader and agripreneur working at the intersection of sustainable agriculture, ecological restoration, plantation, research, indigenous knowledge and rural development.
His journey is guided by one enduring belief: India’s progress must be built on healthy soil, protected water, thriving biodiversity and empowered communities.
Over the years, he has worked to turn this belief into practical action—through plantation and green-development initiatives, farmer-focused agricultural innovation, microbial soil research, community mobilisation and knowledge-based rural development.
A Journey That Began with Nature
Rajeev Singh’s work began with a close engagement with landscapes, plants, soil, water and environmental development.
His early experience in plantation, landscape development and ecological improvement created a deep understanding of the relationship between nature and human progress. He recognised that trees, water bodies, fertile soil and biodiversity are not only environmental concerns; they are the foundation of public health, food security, rural livelihoods and climate resilience.
This field-based understanding continues to shape his leadership today.
From Green Landscapes to Green Communities
Rajeev Singh has been associated with plantation, landscape and environmental-development work across institutional, educational, public and community spaces.
Over time, his work evolved from creating green spaces to building public participation around environmental responsibility. He believes that a plantation becomes meaningful only when people protect and nurture it, and when communities see green cover as their own long-term asset.
This philosophy led to the creation of Harit Sansar—a people-led mission for plantation, biodiversity conservation, water awareness and green community action.
Building Harit Sansar
Harit Sansar represents Rajeev Singh’s commitment to making environmental protection a public movement.
The initiative brings together farmers, students, youth, institutions, volunteers, women’s groups and local communities around a shared purpose: to plant, protect and grow.
Under this mission, the focus is not only on tree plantation, but also on native species, fruit trees, medicinal plants, community forests, agroforestry, biodiversity, water conservation and environmental education.
His message is simple:
हर घर हरियाली
Every family, every village and every institution can contribute to a greener India.
Transforming Agriculture Through Living Soil
Rajeev Singh’s environmental work naturally expanded into agriculture, where he saw the growing challenges of declining soil health, rising input costs, climate uncertainty and limited farmer access to knowledge and markets.
As Founder and Managing Director of Sansar Green, he promotes the “Mitti Se Mandi Tak” vision—an integrated approach that connects soil health, scientific crop planning, microbial bio-inputs, farmer training, value addition and market access.
His agricultural focus includes:
- Microbial farming and soil health
- Region-specific microbial strain banks
- Biofertiliser and biopesticide innovation
- Natural, organic and regenerative farming
- Climate-smart crop practices
- Farmer education and field demonstrations
- Rural entrepreneurship and market linkages
Research, Innovation and SIART
To bridge the gap between research and real-world farming, Rajeev Singh established the Sansar Institute of Agricultural Research & Training (SIART).
SIART is designed as a platform where farmers, researchers, students, agronomists, entrepreneurs and institutions can work together to develop practical agricultural solutions.
The institute focuses on microbial technologies, soil health, bio-input development, natural farming, climate-smart agriculture, tissue culture, farmer training and technology transfer.
Rajeev Singh’s approach is based on a clear principle:
From Laboratory to Field. From Knowledge to Prosperity.
Preserving Hodopathy and Indigenous Knowledge
Rajeev Singh’s work also includes the preservation and responsible documentation of Hodopathy—an indigenous knowledge tradition associated with Adivasi communities, forest ecosystems, medicinal plants, traditional foods and nature-based practices.
Through this work, he seeks to protect cultural heritage, conserve native plants, record oral histories, promote ethical research and recognise the role of community knowledge holders.
For him, Hodopathy represents an important bridge between traditional wisdom, biodiversity conservation, scientific enquiry and sustainable rural livelihoods.
Water, Restoration and Social Responsibility
Rajeev Singh believes that soil, water, trees and communities are inseparable.
Through ecological restoration and water-conservation work, he advocates for the protection and revival of ponds, lakes, wetlands, degraded landscapes and local biodiversity. He supports approaches that combine ecological planning, plantation, community awareness and sustainable resource management.
His wider social work focuses on farmer empowerment, youth engagement, women’s participation, environmental education, rural entrepreneurship and community-led development.
Leading Through Collaboration
Rajeev Singh believes that meaningful change requires collaboration.
His work brings together public institutions, universities, researchers, farmers, students, civil-society organisations, businesses and local communities. Through Sansar Green, Harit Sansar, SIART and associated initiatives, he works to create partnerships that transform knowledge into measurable action.
The Journey Continues
From plantation to microbial farming, from environmental restoration to indigenous knowledge preservation, Rajeev Singh’s journey reflects a commitment to long-term nation-building through sustainability.
His vision is to help create an India where every farmer works with living soil, every village protects its natural resources, every young person participates in green development and every citizen becomes a partner in protecting the future.
