A farmer awareness and training program was organized in the mango orchard region of Gandey in Giridih district, Jharkhand, where environmentalist and agriculture expert Rajeev Singh interacted with local farmers on issues related to soil health, plant nutrition, and sustainable farming practices.
During the interaction, farmers expressed concerns regarding low fruit production in mango plants despite healthy vegetative growth. Rajeev Singh visited the orchard fields and discussed the importance of soil quality, balanced nutrients, irrigation management, organic matter, and proper plant care for improving fruiting and long-term orchard productivity.
He explained that healthy soil plays a crucial role in plant growth and fruit development. According to him, maintaining soil biological activity, moisture balance, and essential micronutrients is necessary for achieving better agricultural output through sustainable farming methods.
As part of the field study, Sonali Sharma, Lab In-Charge at SIARD Research Institute, collected soil samples from the orchard area for scientific analysis to identify nutrient deficiencies and soil-related issues affecting plant health.
During the program, CA Rakesh Kumar also addressed farmers on agricultural marketing, branding, and value addition. He guided farmers on how digital platforms, local market networks, and farmer producer groups can help improve farm income and market access.
The program witnessed active participation from local farmers, who showed interest in adopting natural farming, soil restoration practices, and sustainable agriculture techniques.
Harit Sansar and SIARD Research Institute stated that they will continue working with farming communities on ecological restoration, soil improvement, plantation drives, water conservation, and rural development initiatives across Jharkhand.
“Healthy soil, healthy plants, and prosperous farmers form the foundation of a sustainable and self-reliant future,” Rajeev Singh said.
